TOKYO, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as a weak lead from Wall Street overnight weighed on the market with technology-related issues in particular losing ground.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 286.01 points, or 1.34 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 21,031.31.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 17.57 points, or 1.02 percent, to finish at 1,699.56.
Electric appliance, nonferrous metal and securities-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
