TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as the market mood was cautions amid geopolitical tensions pertaining to a possible U.S. military response to allegations the Syrian government used chemical weapons.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 26.82 points, or 0.12 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,660.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, finished lost 6.78 points, or 0.39 percent, lower to finish at 1,718.52.
Rubber product and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
