KABUL, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The process of voters' registration for the upcoming Afghan parliamentary elections, slated for Oct. 20, formally commenced in the war-battered country on Saturday.
In his opening remarks, President Ashraf Ghani appreciated the election commission for beginning the process and assured his administration would spare no efforts to ensure transparent elections.
"The National Unity Government has the will and commitment to holding transparent elections for the parliament and district councils elections on Oct. 20 this year," President Ghani said.
The Afghan president also called upon the election commission to do its best to ensure holding an impartial and transparent election without considering their provincial, ethnic and religious interests.
