BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The Bruneian government welcomes anyone to be involved in the fisheries industry, whether it be through catch or aquaculture methods using cages or ponds, Haji Ali, the sultanate's Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism said on Wednesday.

"Opportunity is now wide open as the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism continues to offer new licenses for those interested to be involved in the fishery industry, apart from providing facilities to acquire technology related to fisheries," the minister told national broadcaster Radio Television Brunei on the sidelines of a local tuna processing plant's opening ceremony.

Haji Ali added that the increase of fishing vessels or boats will also provide other spinoffs as more processing plants will be operated in Brunei.

However, he said more focus will be put on aquaculture as it is more stable, and easier to control the output throughout the year without being affected by bad weather such as high waves or strong winds.
