SYDNEY, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A giant reticulated python known as "Monster" to staff at the Australian Reptile Park had her annual weigh-in on Thursday, tipping the scale at a whopping 57 kg.
The massive 5.28-meter-long snake has put on 4 kg since her last health checkup, with a robust diet of goats keeping her fit and strong.
Although Monster is a beloved attraction at the zoo, back in December, an experienced snake handler was bitten on the hand by the creature.
Describing it as a "love bite," zookeeper Jake Meney told local media that "it was crazy, I had the longest species of snake hanging off my arm."
"She is a good snake though, it was just that day was hot and pushing 40 degrees," he said.
For now though staff of the Australian Reptile Park are adamant, they have no plans to expand the snake's menu beyond her goat diet.
