CHICAGO, April 19 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and several others injured after a TV station tower collapsed on Thursday in the U.S. state of Missouri, said local fire fighters.
Six workers were working on the 1980 feet (about 604 meters) high metal tower for routine maintenance when it suddenly collapsed, said Rob Talburt, assistant chief of the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District.
He confirmed one fatality, with five others suffering minor injuries, adding that three of the injured were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The tower was now completely on the ground, TV footage showed. An investigation is underway into the cause of the accident.
