BELGRADE, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Projects that Serbia implements with the European Investment Bank (EIB) are of extreme importance for its citizens, Serbian Prime-Minister Ana Brnabic and the president of EIB Werner Hoyer agreed at their meeting on Thursday, estimating the cooperation so far as a success.
Brnabic said at a press conference after the meeting that the value of ongoing projects between Serbia and EIB is 1 billion euro, while in past 10 years, the total value of all joint projects summed up to 7 billion euro.
She estimated that through these projects, citizens can realize the importance of the European Union (EU) for Serbia, especially in the area of healthcare services, where the best example is the newly-built Clinical Centre in Nis.
"The key projects in our cooperation are also in the areas of information technology, research and development that sum up to 65 million euro, as well as water supply and waste water management that are worth around 50 million euro," Brnabic pointed out.
Hoyer said that Serbia is ahead of many European countries when it comes to the understanding of digitalization process, and that he sees perspective in the region when it comes to transport and infrastructural projects.
"The aim of our cooperation is to bring the citizens of Serbia as close as possible to the life in the EU", Hoyer said.
