YANGON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of Myanmar will introduce a quarter tical gold coins with new design to meet the high demand from the public as they have run out of stock, Myanmar News Agency quoted the state bank as reporting Friday.
The new coin is designed in such a way that the center of the face of the gold coin is a portrait of late national hero General Aung San.
The quarter tical gold coins can be bought at the prevailing gold rate of the day at the Myanmar Gems Enterprise sale centers in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay, said the bank announcement.
The Central Bank of Myanmar has been issuing quality tical, half tical and quarter tical gold coins since 1991 with images of a plowing farmer and an elephant hauling a log being depicted on them.
