OSLO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Norway said Wednesday it regrets U.S. decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear agreement as the deal is important for regional stability, public broadcaster NRK reported.
"We regret the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement. It is an agreement that has so far worked for its purpose, namely to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons," Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Soreide told NRK.
She greeted good signals that came from the European Union (EU) and Iran, which want to continue the agreement.
"We have warned the United States against withdrawing from the agreement, and urged EU and the other contractors to remain in the agreement in case the United States were to withdraw," Soreide said.
"What we are worried about is both the global non-proliferation regime... and the stability of a region that is already very unstable," she said.
