VIENTIANE, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Laos and Cambodia have agreed to work together to resolve the issue of their disputed border area as the two countries foreign ministers met for talks in Lao capital Vientiane on Wednesday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Prak Sokhonn was in Laos on a working visit, local daily Vientiane Times on Thursday quoted the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying in a press release.
During talks with his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith, the two ministers agreed that the board committees of the two countries should meet more often in an effort to resolve the matter.
It is hoped that a solution can be reached so that the installation of border markers can be completed on the remaining 14 percent of the total 535 km of the two countries shared border.
The two sides also agreed to set up a coordination mechanism at the departmental level to facilitate the work in order to create a border of security and stability.
