KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, May 17 (Xinhua) -- A severe seasonal flood swept through Imam Sahib district of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province, washing away up to 100 mud-made houses, villagers said Thursday.
The floods also swept away up to 2,000 acres of farm lands in the Mujr and Bish Kapa villages, residents Abdul Hamid and Mohammad Qasem told Xinhua, adding no one was killed or injured in the disaster.
Confirming the incident, Mahbuboobullah Sayeedi, district administrative chief, told Xinhua that a delegation was sent to the areas to assess the losses before providing emergency aids to the villagers.
Heavy rains and flooding have killed 34 people and injured four others elsewhere in the country mostly in the northern provinces over the past week, according to officials of the Afghan Natural Disaster Management Authority.
