ISTANBUL, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police on Friday detained 51 foreigners in Istanbul over their alleged links to the Islamic State (IS) militant group, local media reported.
Anti-terror teams launched simultaneous operations in 11 districts to capture the suspects, who were allegedly plotting terror attacks, the Hurriyet daily said.
Many documents and digital materials were also seized during the raids, the daily said, noting that the nationalities of the suspects were not immediately clear.
Turkey blames a spate of deadly attacks on its soil in recent years on the IS, which is suffering defeat in neighboring Iraq and Syria.?
