GHAZNI, Afghanistan, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen insurgents have been killed and three others injured in two separate incidents in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province, a local official said Wednesday.
In one incident, an Afghan army helicopter targeted an explosive -laden hijacked army vehicle in Mirza Karli village of Nawa district Tuesday afternoon, killing seven militants and injuring three others, provincial government spokesman Mohammad Arif Noori told Xinhua.
The targeted militants were busy building the car bomb for attacking security forces in Ghazni.
On the outskirts of provincial capital Ghazni city, six Taliban militants were killed by army shelling when they were planting landmines in Shahbaz area Tuesday night, according to Noori.
Three Afghan security forces were also wounded during the clashes on Tuesday, the spokesman said.
The province, 125 km south of Kabul, has been the scene of heavy clashes between security forces and Taliban within the past two weeks.
