KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad will make an official visit to Indonesia this week, Malaysia's foreign ministry said Wednesday.
The visit on Thursday and Friday would be Mahathir's first visit to Southeast Asian countries after assuming office for the second time in May.
During the visit, Mahathir will be meeting Indonesian President Joko Widodo, said the foreign ministry.
"The visit will provide a platform for the two Leaders to further strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation of both countries. It would also allow Malaysia to highlight the government's latest policies and its stand particularly on issues of mutual benefits," it said in a statement.
Furthermore, both leaders would have the opportunity to exchange views on regional and global issues that are of common interest to both countries, it added.
