YANGON, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The Tachilek Airport in Shan state of eastern Myanmar has been temporarily closed due to flooding after heavy rainfall hit the area since Tuesday night, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Thursday.
The rain water flooded a runway of the airport, forcing the airport to close on Wednesday until weather condition improves.
The flood water on the runway was being removed by authorities concerned using water pumps, bringing about a slight drop of water level on the runway.
Tachilek is a border town lying opposite to Thailand's Maesai.
