DHAKA, July 2 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday visited Rohingya settlements in Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh's southernmost area bordering Myanmar.
The UN chief and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim arrived in Bangladesh on Sunday for a visit.
Accompanied by Jim and Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, the UN secretary general visited some camps and talked with Rohingya refugees.
In Cox's Bazar, they reviewed the situation of the newly arrived Rohingyas since August last year, and assessed the progress towards a safe, voluntary and dignified return of refugees in line with international standards.
Kim and Guterres had separate meetings with Bangladeshi authorities, including with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday and attended other events in Dhaka.
