JALALABAD, Afghanistan, July 11 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and five others injured in an explosion in east Afghanistan's Jalalabad city on Wednesday, an official said.
The blast and ensuing gunfire rocked provincial education office in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, the official with press office of the provincial administration said.
A police official on condition of anonymity said, "Obviously a suicide bomber blew himself up next to the gate of the education department, allowing others to enter the compound and begin indiscriminate shooting."
However, he added that now a cleanup operation is underway to kill or capture the attacking militants.
