TOKYO, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened mixed Thursday as Wall Street's overnight gains prompted buying, although investors taking profits after a positive four-session run capped gains.
In the opening minutes after the morning bell, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 33.44 points, or 0.15 percent, from Wednesday to 22,827.63.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 0.82 points, or 0.05 percent, lower at 1,750.39.
Mining, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised notable gainers, while pulp and paper, and food-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most.
