TOKYO, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were injured Saturday evening as a gas cylinder of a cassette stove exploded at a summer festive event in the city of Sagamihara, Kanagawa prefecture near Tokyo, local police said.
The gas cylinder of a cassette stove at a booth that was selling grilled chicken exploded around 7:25 p.m. local time, injuring nine people close to the booth.
The accident occurred during an annual summer festive event held at a shopping district in the southern part of the Sagamihara city, and according to the organizer, the event attracts some 3,000 participants every year.
Local police and fire department are investigating the cause of the accident.
