BANGKOK, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn will be crowned in coronation ceremonies on May 4-6, the Bureau of the Royal Household said on Tuesday.
"His Majesty deems it fit to hold the coronation ceremony according to royal traditions," the palace said in a statement.
The ceremonies would include a coronation ceremony, and an audience of the king with high ranking officials.
Vajiralongkorn ascended to Thailand's throne in December 2016 following an invitation by the parliament after the death of his revered father King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2016 after a 70-year reign.
