UFA, Russia, June 20 (Xinhua) -- China is ready to increase security ties with Armenia, Afghanistan and Serbia to safeguard their common interests, a senior Chinese security official has said.
Guo Shengkun, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting senior officials of the three countries on the sidelines of the 10th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Ufa, Russia on Tuesday.
During talks with Armenia's National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, Guo said that China attaches great importance to its friendly cooperative relations with Armenia and is ready to work with the latter to lift bilateral relations to a new level by implementing the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries.
Noting that security cooperation is a significant part of the bilateral relations, Guo said that he hopes the two sides will continuously achieve new results in their cooperation in the areas of anti-terrorism, cyber security and security concerning the Belt and Road Initiative.
When meeting Afghanistan's National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib, Guo reaffirmed the traditional good neighborliness between the two countries, saying that China stands ready to work with Afghanistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and boost their strategic partnership of cooperation to new heights.
He expressed hopes for the law enforcement and security departments of the two countries to further strengthen their cooperation in fighting terrorism, in particular, the terrorist forces of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, and contribute to ensuring the safety of their personnel and institutions as well as maintaining national and regional security and stability.
In his talks with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, Guo hailed the traditional deep friendship between the two countries and their comprehensive strategic partnership operating at a high level in recent years, of which law enforcement and security cooperation serves as an important part and an active impetus.
China is ready to work with Serbia to further promote the law enforcement and security cooperation between the two countries and make it a role model for China-Serbia pragmatic cooperation, he said.
For their parts, Grigoryan, Mohib and Stefanovic also highlighted their respective countries' friendly ties and cooperation with China and expressed readiness for exchanges between their law enforcement agencies and more enhanced security ties.
