SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Security forces have arrested five suspected militants on charge of affiliation with the Islamic State (IS) group in the northern Jawzjan province, a security official in provincial capital Shiberghan city, Samad Khan said Wednesday.
"The security forces captured five fighters of IS group on Tuesday and Sadrudin, a local commander of IS group is also among the arrested militants," Khan told Xinhua.
IS group has yet to make comment.
Government forces have intensified attacks against militants, the official said, adding 26 IS fighters including some foreigners had been killed and 28 others injured in Darzab district of the Jawzjan province over the past four days.
