RABAT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Zambia kicked off their campaign at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with a convincing 3-1 win against Uganda in Group B on Sunday.
In the Marrakech stadium in Morocco, the Zambians took the lead in the 38th minute thanks to Lazarus Kambole, although Uganda drew level two minutes later. In the second half, goals by Augustine Mulenga and Fackson Kapumbu put the result beyond doubt.
Earlier Sunday, Namibia beat Cote d'Ivoire 1-0 in the opener of Group B at the same venue.
Running until Feb. 4., the tournament, which is reserved for African players based in their domestic leagues only, features 16 teams in four groups.
