BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Internet giant Tencent teamed up with global toy-maker Lego to develop a safe Internet eco-system covering games, short videos, smart toys and social networking to empower Chinese children online.
The partnership announced Monday includes a Lego video zone for children on Tencent's video platform and a safe social network for children in China.
Meanwhile, they will develop, publish and operate Lego-branded games on Tencent's gaming platforms and introduce Lego's online operating system for Lego Boost coding toys.
Children under the age of 18 account for about 22.5 percent of China's total online population, making a positive and healthy online experience for children very important.
Anna Gao, vice president of Tencent Games, said the cooperation could leverage technological and innovative means to build a healthy online environment for Chinese children.
"We've seen more and more Chinese children engage with the world digitally, and the partnership will bring them safe and imaginative digital Lego content that also supports their needs of learning, development and entertainment," said Jacob Kragh, general manager of Lego China.
