SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai customs said Friday it had seized 46 pieces of ivory weighing 2.57 kilograms at a Shanghai airport.
On Jan. 11, Shanghai customs caught one male passenger surnamed Feng smuggling 46 ivory items and one rhinoceros horn weighing 4.29 kilograms at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Feng was taken into custody.
Since January last year, Shanghai customs has confiscated 370 ivory items, three complete tusks, and 38 items including rhinoceros horns.
China banned all domestic ivory trade at the end of 2017 as part of its commitment to protecting wild animals.
