TOKYO, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as investors took cues from Wall Street's record closes at the end of last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 68.13 points, or 0.29 percent, from Friday to 23,700.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.48 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,881.87.
Information and communication, service and precision instrument-linked issues led those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
