BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol's play Ghetto will be staged in Beijing in November this year.
One of Sobol's most famous work, the play was first performed in 1984 and has been staged in more than 25 countries in over 20 languages.
The play focuses on a Jewish ghetto in Lithuania during Nazi occupation in World War II, and praises people's noble spirit when faced with death through the story of a German officer, a Jewish singer and a Jewish policeman as well as other people in the ghetto.
Wang Keran, the play's Chinese producer, said the play shows people's attitudes toward death in an extreme situation.
"Characters choose to express life's nobility and elegance through art and to fight cruel fates," Wang added.
