JAKARTA, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Landslides struck Central Java province of western Indonesia on Thursday, leaving at least one dead, 15 others missing, and 14 injured, a government official said.
The natural disaster occurred in Pasir Panjang village of Brebes district when the victims were cultivating their farmlands on a slope of hill, head of the disaster management agency in Brebes district Eko Andalas disclosed.
Rescuers have discovered one body and are still searching for 15 others in the scene now, Andalas told Xinhua via telephone from the scene.
The search and rescue operation involves military personnel and volunteers, he said.
All the wounded have been treated in a nearby health clinic for their wounds, according to the spokesman of national disaster management agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
