TRIPOLI, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- An equestrian championship was held on Saturday in the Libyan capital Tripoli with an entry of 110 riders from different cities and regions of the country, in which the organizers sought national reconciliation and peace in the war-torn country.
"The Libyan equestrian championship hosted a number of participants from all over Libya. Participants answered the invitations and came from the west, east and south of the country," Abdurrahman Al-Hamdi, dean of Tripoli's Abu Salim municipality, told Xinhua.
"The tournament, held for the second year in a row, represents an opportunity for tolerance, national reconciliation and peace among Libyans and sent an important message to all politicians that Libya is big enough for all and will be built by all its children," Hamidi added. "We hope the tournament would send an important message that 2018 be the year of unity among the sons of the homeland."
Due to the popularity of equestrian, large audience attended the tournament and the competition was fierce. At the end, prizes were granted to the top three winners.
