ACCRA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) launched next season's premier league at an impressive ceremony at its national head office in Accra on Monday night.
The 16-club league was scheduled for kick-off two weeks ago but Great Olympics, one of last season's three relegated teams, secured a court injunction against its start, citing the FA's disciplinary committee's decision to throw out its protest against two clubs.
The league will however commence on March 3 after a high court in Accra dismissed the Olympics' injunction application.
The official logo for the 2017/2018 Ghana premier league was also unveiled during the event.
The logo has a glittering star clad in the national colors with a football, signifying the passion of the nation.
Ashford Tetteh Oku, the Ghana Premier League Board chairman, assured the clubs that his outfit has instituted measures to conduct a successful league this season.
StarTimes, the official broadcast sponsor of the league announced its intention to screen more Ghana elite league matches on television in the upcoming season on its pay-per-view channel. It will also screen games on affiliate stations.
