SHANGHAI, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The temperature in downtown Shanghai jumped to 23.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the highest on the same day in 86 years.
A record temperature for this day in downtown Shanghai was 24.8 degrees Celsius in 1932, according to the Shanghai weather bureau.
The warm weather was followed by a thunderstorm in the metropolis on Sunday evening.
The city's temperature was forecast to fall to only 11 degrees Celsius on Monday, said the bureau.
