NANNING, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will pump 400 million yuan (63.4 million U.S. dollars) into improving education infrastructure in rural areas in 2018.
The move is part of a three-year plan for promoting development of the region's rural areas, according to the provincial finance department.
The money will mainly be used to build or renovate boarding schools, construct student dormitories, canteens and other infrastructure to benefit students, the department said.
In July 2017, the ministries of education and finance issued a joint notice urging local governments to complete plans and accelerate improvement of school conditions in poor areas.
