JAKARTA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Wall climbing athletes from Indonesia say they will target at least 2 gold medals in the Asian Games this year.
The target was made based on the performance of the athletes during preparation said Sapto Hardiono, secretary general of the country's climbing association.
Hardiono was optimistic that the athletes would post at least 2 best positions in the sport.
"The target is at least two gold medals from men and women speeds," he said.
The official disclosed that a total of 20 Indonesian athletes (10 men and 10 women) would compete in the Asian Games this year.
Currently, a total of 22 athletes are undergoing training and preparation for the regional sport event, and later the figure will be trimmed to 20, he was quoted by Tempo media as saying.
Wall-climbing coach Hendra Basir disclosed that the preparation has been underway since April of last year in Yogyakarta province.
Scores of athletes from a foreign nation have also taken part in exercises with the Indonesian athletes, he added.
During the practice, Indonesian climbers have broken a world record in speed, the coach said.
The 18th Asian Games are scheduled to be held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and in Palembang, the provincial capital of South Sumatra province from August 18-September 2.
