SARAJEVO , April 8 (Xinhua) -- Boys from sixteen European football clubs competed on the first international Valter Cup 2018 tournament on Sunday in Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) capital Sarajevo.
At the football camp Butmir, some 700 boys from ten European countries and regions gathered together and competed in two categories: U13 and U15, sending a unified "Football 4 Life" message.
Adis Junuzovic, director of Football School "Valter" and an organizer of the tournament, told Xinhua about the importance of the unified message that is sent from the capital Sarajevo.
"It is a massage that we have sent from Sarajevo because we want children to meet and compete, and the best ones to win. We want to show Sarajevo as a good host, and to make this competition traditional," Junuzovic explained.
Junuzovic pointed out on the great number of teams, and some of them are Italian Inter Milan, Russian CSKA Moscow, Turkish Galatasaray, but also on the fact that many boys are stars in their clubs and are potential world players as well.
"Boys that play well will be, not only club stars, but world stars as well," Junuzovichig hlighted, adding that it is important to organize this tournament every year and for this to be a brand in Sarajevo.
The winner of the U13 category is Croatian NK Dinamo, the second place belongs to Croatian NK Osijek and third-placed is Serbian Crvena Zvezda. In the U15 category, the first place went to Turkish Bursaspor, second to Turkish Kasimpasaand third to Turkish Fenerbahce.
The Valter Cup 2018 started on April 6 and lasted until April 8.
