GAZA, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A Hamas militant was killed and another critically wounded in a pre-dawn Israeli airstrike Thursday on the group's armed wing in eastern Gaza.
Paramedics confirmed that Mohamed Abu Hjeila, in his mid-20s, was killed and another person was seriously injured when an Israeli drone fired a missile at a Hamas lookout post close to the border between eastern Gaza City and Israel.
An Israeli army spokesperson said the attack was in response to the earlier detonation of a roadside bomb aimed at an Israeli army ground force that carried out an incursion into the buffer zone inside eastern Gaza.
According to official medical figures, in the past 30 days, 33 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,800 injured in clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters, who are leading a rally called the Great March of Return.
The rally, which started on March 30, is scheduled to end on May 15.
