TOKYO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as Wall Street set a positive tone overnight and the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar helped lift exporter issues.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 95.13 points, or 0.42 percent, from Wednesday to 22,504.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.24 points, or 0.18 percent, to 1,776.15.
Mining, oil and coal product, and transportation equipment-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
