BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Cedric Bakambu's late equalizer prevented Beijing Guoan from conceding a home defeat in the Chinese Super League, as the capital-based side tied with Guangzhou R&F 2-2 here on Friday.
The Congolese striker played heroics in the 84th minute when Wang Ziming nodded a corner to him for a scoring header which earned the hosts Guoan one point.
Beijing Guoan extended an eight-game unbeaten run and a victory would sent them to the top temporarily. Renato Augusto was sidelined due to injury while R&F also missed Renatinho.
The hosts started off good just seven minutes into the game when Piao Cheng's Pirlo-esque pass released Bakambu who slid to score from an angle drive.
But then it was R&F's Israeli forward Eran Zahavi's showtime. The 30-year-old grabbed two crosses from Lu Lin and scored twice to overturn the game into R&F's lead.
