SHANGHAI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese sprinter Xie Zhenye stoked the fires ahead of the IAAF's Diamond League meet in Shanghaion Friday as he expected to challenge his teammate Su Bingtian.
As the defending champion of the 100m race of the tournament, Su showcased fearsome form this season as he took silver in the men's 60 meters at the World Indoor Championships.
"There is no doubt that Su is a great player in Chinese sprinting history, and now he is in good condition. To me I will fight to beat him, let's see what will happen tomorrow, I believe I will have a good performance," Xie said Friday.
Xie also anticipated a good result at the Asian Games which to be held in Jakarta in August.
"The Asian Games is an important event, I haven't won anything in this campaign, maybe I will participate in more than one event. So I will make efforts to achieve something there."
