CHENGDU, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Train operations in southwest China's Sichuan Province have resumed after being disrupted by a landslide Tuesday, a railway company said Wednesday.
A total of 27 trains were suspended or forced to return after torrential rain since Monday evening triggered a landslide in Leshan City early Tuesday, halting railway operations between the provincial capital of Chengdu and Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, according to the China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd.
The landslide was spotted between Jiuli and Zhenxi stations, with debris burying the railway tracks, said the company.
More than 600 workers have been mobilized to repair the section, and about 800 passengers were evacuated by bus.
