TOKYO, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as buying here was supported by solid U.S. non-farm payrolls data released late last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 228.57 points, or 1.03 percent, from Friday to 22,399.92.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 19.02 points, or 1.09 percent, at 1,768.19.
Glass and ceramics product, pulp and paper, and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
