RIYADH, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday the death of three civilians in a new projectile attack by Houthi rebels that targeted border city of Jazan, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The spokesperson of the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen, Col. Turki Al Maliki, said that the attack took place at 2:55 p.m. (1155 GMT) local time on Saturday.
He accused the Houthis of intentionally targeting civilians by firing at residential areas, and warned of strong steps against those who jeopardize the safety of the kingdom.
Missile and projectile attacks fired by Houthi rebels are common, and most of them were intercepted by the Saudi air forces without reporting any injuries.
In support of the Yemeni exiled government, Saudi Arabia has been leading a war against the Houthis and accusing Iran of standing behind the rebels to promote instability in Yemen by supplying them with weapons.
