TOKYO, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened flat Monday as investors opted not to make bold moves ahead of an historic summit between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) scheduled for Tuesday in Singapore.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 4.31 points, or 0.02 percent, from Friday to 22,698.81.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.72 point, or 0.04 percent, at 1,780.72.
Electric power and gas, fishery agriculture and forestry, and food issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell, while marine transportation, mining, and securities house-linked issues led decliners.
