NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia, June 24 (Xinhua) --Two headers from Stones, Harry Kane's two penalties and a goal from Lingard helped England lead Panama 5-0 after the first half of their World Cup Group G game at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium here on Sunday.
England, playing a 3-5-2 formation, took the lead just 8 minutes into the game with a header from John Stones.
In the 20th minute, England's midfielder Jesse Lingard was pushed down from behind by the Panamanian defender in the box and a penalty was awarded to the Three Lions.
Harry Kane, the Tottenham Hotspur striker, slammed the penalty into the top left corner of the net after 2 minutes and gave England a 2-0 lead.
The Three Lions controlled the game and had a third goal in the 36th minutes as Lingard made a right footed shot from outside the box to the top right corner and scored.
Just after 4 minutes, England won a free-kick and extended the lead again. Trippier rolled the ball to Jordan Henderson and he curled a delivery to the back post for Kane to nod on. The Panama goalkeeper made a fine close-range save. However, Stones was on the spot to make a header and scored again.
At the end of the first half, another penalty was awarded to England as Kane was pulled down inside the box. The captain converted the penalty with a right footed shot to the top left corner, which is almost a same score as his first one.
After Belgium crashed Tunisia with 5-2 on Saturday, a victory against Panama will ensure England to seal a position in the last 16.
