GUIYANG, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Since May, rounds of heavy rain have killed six and disrupted the life of 820,000 people in southwest China's Guizhou Province, civil affairs authorities said Tuesday.
Over the past two months, residents of 67 counties, cities or districts were affected by torrential rain and floods, according to civil affairs departments of various levels.
Two people remain missing.
Nearly 32,000 hectares of crops were damaged, and more than 900 houses were damaged or toppled.
Direct economic loss exceeds 748 million yuan (114 million U.S. dollars), statistics show.
The provincial finance and civil affairs departments on Tuesday allocated 9.6 million yuan for disaster relief to 29 counties affected by the floods. The funds will be used for temporary evacuation of residents, aid for living expenses of the evacuated, reconstruction of houses, and used to help the victims' families, according to the provincial civil affairs department.
