FRANKFURT, July 17 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 100.52 points, or 0.80 percent, to close at 12,661.54 points.
German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 8.47 percent. Material manufacturer Covestro and chemical group BASF rose by 3.43 percent and 2.24 percent respectively.
Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.35 percent. Deutsche Bank down by 1.28 percent. Pharmaceutical company Merck down by 1.17 percent.
Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 259.34 million euros (303.60 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
