BELRIN, July 24 (Xinhua) -- German law enforcers on Tuesday arrested 42-year-old German citizen Yasmin H. who allegedly assisted her husband in preparation of biological weapons, authorities said.
Yasmin H.'s husband, Tunisian national Sief Allah H., in June was charged of producing biological weapons after police discovered highly toxic substance in his apartment in Cologne.
According to the Federal Prosecutor General at the Federal Court of Justice, Yasmin H. was accused of having the desire to join the so-called Islamic State in Syria and booked flights for her husband in order to travel there.
In April 2018, Sief Allah H. began to engage in the production of ricin. One month later, he began to obtain the necessary equipment and substances for the extraction of the toxin.
His wife provided him at least for some of the orders payment accounts and helped with the delivery of at least 1,000 castor seeds, according to authorities.
At the end of May 2018, Sief Allah H. succeeded in producing 84.3 milligrams of ricin. To test its effectiveness, the couple bought a hamster in a pet shop in Cologne to apply the ricin for testing purposes.
Further efforts to produce large quantities of ricin and an explosive device were stopped with the arrest of Sief Allah H. on June 12, 2018 in Cologne.
