TOKYO, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Tuesday tracking a decline in U.S. shares overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 117.91 points, or 0.52 percent, from Monday to 22,426.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 10.45 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1,757.70.
Decliners were led by miscellaneous finance, miscellaneous product, and electric power and gas issues.
