WUHAN, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The upcoming Tianmen International Half Marathon is expected to attract 8000 competitors to the inaugural event.

Participants will take part in a half marathon and a mini 5km race on October 13. The athlete that breaks national record will pocket 10,000 U.S. dollars.

Tianmen residents who finish in the top 50 in the men's and women's races will also receive special rewards, according to the organizers.

The event is a first for the central city in Hubei Province.
