STOCKHOLM, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two young men were arrested on Tuesday after Monday night's car fires in western Sweden, the Swedish Television SVT reported.
The men, aged 16 and 21 respectively, are suspected of arson and instigating riots. The police believe that they are involved in the burning and damaging of approximately 100 cars in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city.
According to SVT, the police was able to identify and arrested the suspects thanks to many eye witnesses and videos that the public took at the time of the crimes.
There is a risk that vandalism and riots might continue even Tuesday. The police have therefore urged adults and parents to go out on the streets and marketplaces to calm down the situation.
"If something happens tonight, we will be in there and arrest more people," the head of the local police Dan Windt told SVT.
In addition to Gothenburg, cars were burned in several small cities as well. The police have not been able to say whether the different incidents are related to each other or not.
