VALLETTA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- A boat carrying 35 immigrants was rescued in south of Malta, the government said on Wednesday in a statement.
Malta was notified of a boat in difficulty south of the country on Wednesday afternoon. Then, an AFM (Armed Forces of Malta) patrol vessel was directed to the area, the statement said.
The migrants were rescued and taken on board one of the AFM vessels which then towed the migrants' boat to the AFM maritime base at Hay Wharf.
Monday, an AFM patrol boat rescued another 114 migrants after they were spotted in a sinking dinghy some 53 miles south of Malta.
